A hot contest. GRAND CONQUEROR (nap) lost his unbeaten record in handicaps at Kempton in February but was clear of the rest with Guchen, who has since bolted up at Newbury. The runner-up appeals as still being well treated following a 4lb rise. Maldini Milano's maiden hurdle win over C&D in November also appeals as being a strong piece of form and he can be forgiven a lesser run on his handicap debut at Windsor due to the soft going. Easy Love is another who could relish today's return to better ground and she is third choice ahead of Minella Jury.[Ben Hutton] Show less
Spotlight: Won on handicap debut over C&D (good to soft) in December and followed up at Fontwell (2m1f, good to soft) 11 days later, before clear second to well-handicapped winner at Kempton (2m5f, good to soft) in February; he's up 4lb for last time but the form reads very well and he could settle better in a first-time hood; lots to like.
Spotlight: Began to look exposed in the second half of last year but he showed improved form to win at Kempton (2m, good) on March 23 and was short-headed at Ludlow (2m, good) last Monday; he should be fine now back up in trip and could again be thereabouts.
Spotlight: Good-ground bumper runner-up who improved with each of his first four runs over hurdles, easily winning a maiden here (2m, soft) in February; pulled up in the competitive EBF Final at Sandown (2m4f, soft) since and needs to prove his stamina, but pedigree provides hope; not written off.
Spotlight: Course bumper winner who easily made all on handicap debut at Windsor (2m4f, good) on New Year's Day; unplaced/pulled up in Grade 2/Listed races on heavy/soft going on her two starts since but she could be an entirely different proposition now back in a handicap and back on better ground.
Spotlight: Point winner who scored on his hurdle debut at Taunton (2m3f, good) in December; 28l fourth of 15 in Kempton novice (2m5f, good to soft) since but this unexposed 6yo makes his handicap debut off what looks a fair mark and he could have more to offer.
Spotlight: Good-ground bumper winner who got off the mark over hurdles at the third attempt over C&D (good) in November, when wearing first-time cheekpieces (retained) in a maiden that worked out extremely well; weakened into sixth on handicap debut at Windsor in January but that was on soft ground; firmly in calculations now back on a better surface.
Spotlight: Listed bumper winner who scored at Hereford (2m3f, heavy) in February on his third handicap start and was a close second to Mount Anglesby (2m5f, good to soft) four weeks ago; this 6yo could continue to progress now things are starting to click; possible contender in first-time cheekpieces.
Spotlight: Irish bumper winner (yielding) who followed up on hurdle/stable debut at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) in December, and he was disputing the lead and clear of the rest when falling at the final flight on handicap debut at Doncaster (2m, good to soft) last time; the winner has followed up off 6lb higher so a 4lb rise for this fellow may well prove lenient; every chance he'll stay.
Spotlight: 7yo who has a fair bit of experience but has been progressive for a new yard this term, making it two wins from his last three runs (2m3f/2m5f, good/good to soft) when scoring at Warwick last time; entitled to respect.
Spotlight: Won a bumper at Fontwell (2m1f, good) last May and followed up on hurdle debut over C&D (good to soft) in December; however, he's been pulled up/well beaten in his first two handicaps and needs to get back on track.
Spotlight: Won a maiden hurdle at Warwick (2m, good) last June and has dropped down the weights, but he didn't show enough in handicaps in the autumn to have pressing claims today; returns from a break.
Spotlight: Useful Flat performer who made good start to hurdling career in the autumn, including when going close in a Cheltenham novice (2m4f, good to soft; has won on good ground); flopped at Ascot (2m5f, good) in November but has had a break since and retains potential now in his first handicap hurdle.
